Even though I say I'm not eating processed sugar, I know some has been slipping into my diet in condiments. Oh, yeah, and in that sugar-cured ham I fixed last week. I would know without reading ingredients labels because my muscles have started cramping and my eye is twitching again--such a weird feeling!

Well, I'm trying to add a new post on this page, but haven't figured it all out yet, so will add here instead.
I wanted to mention that the Ella Ragland Not-for-profit organization is sponsoring my work in a local nursing facility where I use I-AM (Inter-Active Music) with people with Alzheimer's Type Dementia. The work (once/week; 45 min. to an hour) is going well. There are 6 regular group members and a number of others who do not consistently participate. There are usually 8-10 in each session. Inter-action among group members is woven into musical activities in an effort to increase or at least maintain social awareness and skills. Group members sing along, exercise with music, and talk about their memories. They also enjoy playing a music "ball game." Last week I observed that at least one of my regular group members is responding to music as a cue. In the middle of the session, I hummed the tune I use to sing good-bye to the group. She sat up on the edge of her seat and began to fold her quilt, getting ready to leave the room.
